Books to Teachers, Schools, Students, and Non-profits
MISSION: ABC’s mission is to provide books to children and those working with children in need.
Access to Book for Children (ABC) provides books to teachers, schools, students and non-profits, and others in need, free of charge.
The types of children’s books include – board books, paperback and hardback picture books, early readers, chapter books and nonfiction.
ABC was founded by Kim Johnson in 2017 out of a passion to provide access to books and support reading for children.
ABC has distributed over 60,000 children’s books in the following ways:
- Events at schools — In May 2022 over 3,000 books were distributed at several elementary schools. Students could select 2 books to take home for the summer.
- Books for new teachers – new education graduates come to ABC and select books to start their classroom libraries. Events are regularly held at Bethel University for graduating education majors.
- Community programs to provide free books to children.
- International Distributions — ABC has partnered to distribute over 10,000 books to schools in Cebu, Philippines
